Saturday & Sunday    8am - 2pm

OUR KITCHEN

The Cafe’s name, Surya, (the Sanskirt word for sun), celebrates the very principles with which we operate. The sun is the center of the universe, granting us nourishment and energy, so we look to it as the vital source of our health, vitality and well-being. We choose our ingredients with deep integrity and high regard for our planet and lovingly offer you wholesome plant-based meals that will leave you feeling satiated and energized. Chef Lauren and her staff artfully prepare fruits, vegetables, nuts, grains and legumes with balanced nutrition and the Season in mind. She avoids all foods that have been overly processed and only uses pure ingredients with no harmful additives. We minimize our use of animal products, thereby reducing the strain on water and land and compost our food waste as our way of acknowledging our deep appreciation for Mother Earth.

We source our food from Fitchburg Farmers Market vendors and other organic and local farmers whenever possible, prepare our food with respect and appreciation for everyone involved, and bring our compassion, joy, and creativity to every plate to ensure that your taste buds are delighted and your body is nourished.

We want you to be able to take this goodness home with you so we have online ordering and reusable to go containers.  Chef Lauren also offers food demonstrations so you can learn how to incorporate all this goodness into your lifestyle at home.

OUR CAFE

Your dining experience in our cafe will encourage you to consume your food thoughtfully and joyfully and will not only strengthen your sense of interconnectedness with the planet, but also with your fellow human being.  Choose to pull up a seat in our intimate cafe space, push up to the counter in the area we call Air for a peaceful outdoor view, or go one step further and move outdoors to our prairie-side outdoor seating area.

The stage in our cafe is the platform for local and visiting artists and thought-leaders of all sorts, transforming Surya Cafe into a place where you not only nourish your body, but also your mind and spirit.

If you can’t dine with us, pre-order your food online and take it with you in one of our resusable or biodegradable containers.

Walk gently upon the Earth and she will provide.
