Tess Kennedy

Tess is an 800-hour RYT yoga teacher with a love of movement - not as a goal or technique - but as a pathway to aliveness. Tess sees yoga as something we do - we breathe, meditate, make shapes with our bodies - but also as something we experience; a sense of being part of it all. Her intention is to guide the doing and hold space for the experiencing. Her classes use the presence-ing tools of asana, breath, somatics, soundscaping, intuitive movement, mantra, and non-dual Tantrik philosophy. Tess’s greatest teacher has always been her body, and her struggles with physical and mental health have guided her to the practices and teachings of yoga, again and again. Tess’s experience of body-mind-heart healing through yoga led her to study anatomy, physiology, and movement science in relation to yogic practices, along with various healing modalities including Natural Movement, Somatics, Neuro-biomechanics, Myofascial Release, Sound Healing, and Yoga Nidra. Tess enjoys exploring non-dual philosophy through the views of Classical Tantra, Tibetan Buddhism, and Contemplative Neuroscience, all of which point to the freeing possibility that there is nowhere to go but here; that yoga is not a path of becoming anyone or anything, but of opening our hearts to what is, and has always been, here.
