Jan Schaefer

Jan Schaefer teaches a heart-opening, alignment-based yoga practice. Her classes guide students through a series of carefully-chosen poses, each of which may illuminate restrictions in the body and/or opportunities to create more space. A combination of breathwork, correct alignment, and fascia work allow students to deepen their poses to release blockages and increase strength and flexibility. Jan brings with her over 20+ years of teaching experience, and completed her 200-hour yoga training with Iris Mickey, Martin Kirk, and Betsy Downing. She has since expanded upon her teacher trainings to include expertise in yoga therapy, fascia and anatomy, breathwork, and meditation. Just as important as the yoga itself, Jan makes it a goal to foster community in every class and ensures that each student feels welcomed. She was first introduced to yoga as an athlete with back pain, but the connection it sparked with herself, the yoga community, and the universe kept her practicing. She hopes that her classes allow students to deepen their relationship with yoga and their inner selves.
