Emily Wiersma

Emily’s aim is to facilitate a space where students are able to be truly present and connect with their bodies and minds. She shares practices that facilitate body and breath awareness to help students experience presence and connection. She integrates her experience as a social worker in the mental health field to create classes that promote holistic wellness.

Emily came to yoga after a period of hardship. Though she had tried yoga previously in high school, she didn’t experience the life changing power it offers until years later. It was when her teacher described it as a “moving meditation” that she began to scratch the surface of what yoga truly is. As she practiced, she fell in love with the breath and movement of Hot Yoga and Vinyasa. It facilitated a deep sense of embodiment that can be hard to achieve in a busy, technology focused world.

In the fall of 2023, she attended the Perennial Yoga School, where she earned her 200-hour designation. It not only provided her with a deeper knowledge of yoga but also challenged her physically, mentally, and spiritually. She loves to support students in their challenges and goals, whether that be building awareness, practicing nonjudgment, or trying a new pose.

Emily Wiersma is currently not instructing any classes.
