Yoga Therapy with Jen Pulvermacher

WHAT IS YOGA THERAPY

Yoga Therapy is an emerging field of integrative medicine that provides holistic treatment of various physiological, physical, or mental conditions ranging from back pain to cancer, to headaches, arthritis, anxiety, auto-immune, trauma, and injury rehabilitation. The ancient practices of yoga (movement, breath, meditation and more) are utilized to achieve system balance, enabling genuine transformation and healing.

Long Term Objectives of Yoga Therapy include:

  • Reduced suffering
  • Improved relationship with pain, to help manage ongoing symptoms
  • Improved mood and mental health, including stress resilience
  • Improved function and overall quality of life
  • A strong sense of self-awareness and self-compassion

How is Yoga Therapy Different from a Gentle Yoga or Yoga RX Class?

Yoga therapy is typically offered in guided, 1-1 personalized sessions with a highly trained (over 1000 hours) and experienced Yoga Therapist. Sessions are customized for you, your lifestyle, and your health condition. Our weekly Yoga RX classes are general enough to meet the needs of a wide variety of people and conditions. A yoga therapy session starts with a comprehensive health intake, and each session is designed specifically for you, your condition, and ability. Your Yoga Therapist guides you through each session, which may include a combination of breath practice, movement, chanting, meditation, and deep relaxation. Your Yoga Therapist consults your doctor and health team as needed and works with you to define goals and develop a holistic treatment plan that fits your lifestyle. The intention is to empower you to continue healing body, mind, and spirit between sessions.
