Crystal enrolled in her first 200 Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) in 2009 through the Himalayan Institute. After feeling the many emotional, spiritual and physical benefits that Yoga and Meditation brought to her daily life, she had a strong desire to continue to learn and share with others. Crystal has now completed a second 230YTT, 540YTT, Ayurveda Yoga Specialist Certification and Chair Yoga Certification. She is grateful to have had in-depth study-training opportunities with Indu Arora, Sarah Powers, Lauren Walker, Rod Stryker and many others from the Himalayan Institute and Kripalu for Yoga Nidra, Yin Yoga, Mudra, Energy Medicine Yoga, Yoga Therapy, Yoga Philosophy and Meditation. Her professional and personal studies are ongoing….. always a student of Life. Crystal teaches from her heart as she invites students to pause, connect, look inside and feel what is happening in the present moment, to observe the effects a practice reveals. Her classes are rooted in traditional Hatha & Tantra Yoga sharing from the lineage of Swami Rami (founder of the Himalayan Institute) and teachings of Indu Arora (International Ayurveda and Yoga). Crystal’s classes include Mantra (chanting), Mudras Pranayama (breath & prana practices) and other teachings from the Vedas (ancient books of “wisdom”). Crystal holds sacred that which Indu Arora has taught, “Yoga is a work IN, not a workout”. Crystal is honored to teach and share from all of her training, modalities and life experiences respecting an integrative approach. Crystal believes that we are ALL teachers and we are ALL students.
Crystal Hanson instructs the following:
-
FITCHBURG | FLOW | GENTLE
Our FLOW | GENTLE class incorporates creative vinyasa sequencing (breath-inspired movement), attention to alignment, breath awareness, and meditation to build strength, increase flexibility, calm the mind, and open the heart. For students newer to yoga or who prefer a slower paced practice.
-
FITCHBURG | FLOW | REJUVENATE
FLOW | REJUVENATE is a balanced approach of effort and ease. It incorporates more challenging postures, sometimes including optional inversions and arm balances, and moves at a more dynamic tempo to build strength and grace. For students who have a regular practice and want to move at a more rejuvenating and rhythmic pace. The element of WATER is fluid and nourishing. Our FLOW Yoga Classes will help you tap into your fluid nature so you can embrace change in your life.
-
FITCHBURG | GROUND | RESTORE & NIDRA
GROUND | RESTORE & NIDRA is a practice designed to calm the mind, balance emotions, and release tension from the body. Restorative poses are often held for a longer duration, allowing the nervous system to switch from "fight-or-flight" to "rest-and-digest" mode. Using props - bolsters, blankets, blocks, straps, and the wall - and the body's weight, these supportive poses create space in the body and encourage us to do less and be more present. The practice of Yoga Nidra or “Yogic Sleep” is a systematic meditation technique used to induce complete physical, mental and emotional relaxation. Nidra includes a guided meditation, breath work and visualization. For students who are new to yoga or have an established practice; who wish to experience the deep healing, grounding, and centering aspects of the practice.
The element of EARTH is stabilizing and calming. Our GROUND Yoga Classes will help you slow down, find nourishment and restoration, and experience self-care. If you are feeling overwhelmed, over-extended, or in need of some revitalization, come to a GROUND class.
